Revitalized the XLogic™ platform by restructuring workflows, modernizing user interactions, and enhancing cross-functional alignment for streamlined user experiences.

Overview
During my summer internship at Milliman, I found myself stepping into a world where data-driven decisions shaped the landscape of insurance and healthcare. As a UX designer, I had the opportunity to contribute to the redesign of XLogic™, a critical platform at the heart of automating complex rating and underwriting processes. Little did I know that this journey would push me to my limits, spark my love for user-centered design, and lead to transformative change.

Context
XLogic™ is an internal underwriting platform used by Milliman's team, developed over seven years ago. As the platform's functionality grew, so did its complexity, with an outdated UI and inefficient workflows that failed to meet current standards. My task was to transform this essential tool, making it scalable, intuitive, and more aligned with modern user expectations.
Challenge
XLogic’s rigid, legacy architecture created a host of usability issues, slowing productivity and frustrating users. With a cluttered interface and lack of modular design components, tasks that should have been seamless were convoluted, making system updates time-consuming and limiting the platform's scalability.
🪙
How can we enhance XLogic’s user experience while also building a foundation for future scalability and operational efficiency?
Due to an NDA, a full breakdown of the redesign is not available here. Please feel free to reach out 🔗 if you'd like to discuss this project in more detail!
My Role
In my role as the first-ever UX Design Intern, I led a comprehensive redesign of XLogic™ from the ground up. My responsibilities centered on enhancing navigation and usability, aligning the interface with business objectives, and addressing core user pain points through a modular, user-centered design approach. I restructured the platform’s information architecture to establish intuitive user flows. Close collaboration with cross-functional teams ensured a cohesive integration of design and development efforts, driving consistency across the platform. Despite challenges such as limited user access for usability testing, I remained focused on streamlining processes and elevating the overall user experience.
My Impact
01
Led 0 to 1 Design: Initiated the design process for XLogic™ 2.0 from scratch, creating over 54 reusable UI components that effectively laid the groundwork for future scalability and enhancements.
02
Drove a 35% reduction in task workflows, directly impacting user efficiency and satisfaction while reinforcing the platform's value proposition.
03
Elevated design standards through meticulous attention to detail in mockups, wireframes, and prototypes, setting a benchmark for future projects and enhancing the overall quality of deliverables.
